Welcome to Hawker a great little outback town that welcomes you to discover the Central Flinders Ranges.

Located 365 kilometres north of Adelaide, Hawker was once a thriving railway town. Now the focus is tourism as many visitors flock to discover the beauty of the Flinders Ranges and Outback.

The region showcases a mix of natural and cultural attractions – unsurpassed rugged scenery, relics of the early settlers, art and craft galleries, bush pubs and unique eating places, railway history and more.

Explore the Flinders Ranges National Park, the historic Old Ghan Rail Trail or take any number of short and day trips. Walks and lookouts are available throughout the district and a variety of 4WD tracks are there for you to self drive or enjoy with a tour operator including locally based air charter and scenic flight operators. Walkers and bicycle riders are well catered for with both the Heysen Trail and the Mawson Trail passing near and through Hawker.

The district offers extensive self contained, hotel, motel, caravan and camping accommodation, as well as bush camping. The township is host to the ever popular annual Hawker Cup races, and a gateway to Wilpena Pound and beyond.

Come and discover your own piece of Hawker and the Central Flinders Ranges and make sure you capture our beautiful area on your camera or canvas!
